Q. What do I receive for taking the Defensive Driving Course?

A. After completing the Defensive Driving Course, you receive a 3 point reduction from your New Hampshire or Maine Driving Record. Individuals over 55 may also be eligible for an automobile insurance discount--contact your agent prior to taking the course.

Q. How do I enroll in the course?

 

A. Register online or enroll by telephone at 800.834.6472.

Q. Must I pre-register?

​

A. Pre-registration and pre-payment is required for courses.  We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.   In the event that a class is cancelled, refunds will be made according to method of payment.  If you have registered for a class and cannot attend, we must receive notification three days in advance of the class date in order to issue a refund.  No refunds will be made after that time.

Q. Do I qualify for a point reduction on my driver license record if I take the Online Defensive Driving Course?

A. The state of New Hampshire does not accept online training to meet Point Reductions requirements. To receive a point reduction you must attend our Defensive Driving classroom course. Click here for times and locations.

Q. How often may I take the Defensive Driving Course for a point reduction?

 

A. You may take the course for a point reduction once every three years.

​

 

Q. Does the Defensive Driving Course involve behind the wheel instruction?

​

A. No. The course is six hours of classroom instruction and focuses on accident prevention, driving confidence, awareness of hazards and improving driving ability.

Q. Are there other fees that may be assessed? 

​

A. No.

​

 

Q. Is there a lunch break?

​

A. Yes. There is a 30 minute lunch break.

Q. Who do I call for information regarding my driving record?

A. Contact the nearest driver license office or the State Driver License Division.

People needing special accommodations should contact the National Safety Council - New England Chapter at least two weeks prior to the course, so that adequate arrangements can be made.
